Protein Oats With Warm Cherry Compote

Overnight oats are the perfect camping breakfast – make them before heading out and they’ll be good to go when you wake up. No messing around, and you’ll leave your stove free to make the all important coffee!

This version requires a little more prep, but you’ll appreciate a little bit of decadence after a cold night outside. The warm cherry compote cuts through the earthy oatiness while the pistachios and a little shaving of dark chocolate make it a breakfast fit for an adventure king.

Adding protein to the oats makes it a perfect recovery breakfast, or to set you up for a big day on the trails. Prep Tip

You can make the compote while preparing the oats at home and add it all into one container alongside the pistachios, but if you have a little extra time in the morning we’d suggest making the cherry compote fresh and assembling just before eating. This way you get the best from the cherries and the pistachios won’t have softened out.




Overnight Oats

1 cup Rolled Oats

1 cup Coconut Yoghurt

1 cup Almond milk

4x scoops Form Peanut & Chocolate Protein Powder

1 Tbsp Chia Seeds

Sea Salt

Cherry Compote

250g Fresh Cherries

Muscovado or Coconut Sugar to taste


50g Roasted Pistachios

20g Dark Chocolate



To make the oats, mix all ingredients together in a large bowl and pack into an adventure proof container. Leave overnight for the oats to soften.

To make the cherry compote, pit the cherries and stick them in a non stick pan (we have been consistently impressed by the non stick on our Trangia pans!) Heat gently until the cherries have released their liquid and begin to caramelise, then add a pinch of sugar if you prefer a sweeter compote, or serve warm as it is.

Serve topped with a handful of salty roasted pistachios and some shavings of dark chocolate and you’ll be ready for a big day of adventure!


If you would prefer warm porridge, swap yoghurt for water and mix ingredients together in your pan, heating slowly until it reaches desired consistency. Add the pre-made cherry compote, nuts and chocolate and serve warm. ▲
